Starting to transplant the first round of tomatoes; we are selling 21 varieties of tomatoes this year. I hope my customers like some of the new ones such as green zebra, cherokee purple and japanese trifle.

zero turn lawn mower
We have lived out on our farm for 15 years and I have had at least 5 riding lawn mowers, all used and I got tired of always trying to fix them. This is my new toy. Zero-turn, 52" mowing deck, 26 hp, and will do 8 miles per hour. WooHoo!
Week of April 19, 2010
This week I finished the first round of tomatoes and will start the second round of seedlings this week end. Next weekend May 1st. back to the market.

proven winners

It's all in the tag. I was inspected this week by the Royalty Administration International (RAI) to see if my plants have this tag. When I purchase Proven Winners as little baby plugs I pay a royalty and sign an agreement to not propagate these plants. This tag proves that. If you are caught propagating them it is a $2.00 fine for each plant without a tag. You then must destroy all plants before the inspector leaves. Mine all have tags......

My husband wanted a bigger tractor, so he traded in our old 8N Ford Tractor for this beauty a Ford 2910. It has 40HP and will be a much safer tractor to operate. She is real pretty.

For the first time in 16 years I did not go to the market the day before Mother's Day which is one of my largest sales day. We had 45 mph wind gusts with 36 degree wind chill and rain. My hanging baskets would have been torn up and customers don't like to shop in such nasty weather.

ann arbor farmer's market

my new cycle
We don't always work our butts off. My husband decided I needed a toy. This is a 1971 Honda 90cc in mint condition...it has no clutch.
Week of May 31, 2010
We are having a new barn built. It is 24 x 32 and has large sliding doors on each end. This will make it easy to store our tractors and equipment. Our other barn is way to full.

at the market
This will be the last week for a good selection of veggie plants. I am running out of things such as cukes, sweet peppers. Next week we will reduce prices.

haywagon loaded with free veggies.
This week we put out our haywagon loaded with all the leftover veggie plants. I find it easier to give them away than to dump them. They all just disappear and it brings me good karma with my friends and neighbors. Within 2 days I got rid of everything!

This is one of the many trees we lost in our woods due to severe storms that passed through our area last Friday night. We lost our power for 5 days. My poor husband spent most of the time switching appliances and well to the generator.

new barn finished

This week our barn was finished. It is beautiful, but now my husband does not want to store stuff in there cause it is too pretty. Yes, it has its own address.
